Year 6: Weekly roundup/Next week

We have had a busy, but lovely week this week. We enjoyed our trip to Llandudno, a visit from PC Hulley and a fitness session with Liam. We also had an exciting game of rounders. We are quickly approaching the end of term and the end of the pupils’ time here at St Mary’s.
Pupils wrote and recorded radio broadcasts, inspired by a plane crash in ‘Letters from the Lighthouse.’ They spoke clearly and confidently, using formal language.
#HealthyConfidentIndividuals
Pupils have built on their knowledge of place value, in order to solve different problems. They have revised converting fractions and decimals and rounding numbers too.

Our ‘Thankyou Art’ is ready to distribute. The pupil’s work is beautiful and I am sure it will be well received by our local businesses.

Homework – this will be the last week for home readers. Please can all pupils make sure that they return school reading books next week – many thanks. Pupils have been given parts to read over for our leaver’s service as homework for this week. A Leaver’s Poem and Leaver’s Prayer are still on Google Classroom to read over too.
Next week
We will spend time rehearsing our Leaver’s Service next week. We will be investigating sounds, looking at vibrations and how sounds travel through solids, liquids and gases. We will also investigate soundproofing.
We will finish reading ‘Letters from the Lighthouse’ and create a book review.
Launch of our mini topic!
On Thursday, pupils are invited to come to school dressed in the colours blue, yellow and black for the launch of our final mini topic! We will also be sampling some tasty foods. If there are any allergies or intolerances that we are not already aware of, please let us know before Thursday – thank you.
