Year 1: Weekly round up

Ahoy me hearties! We scallywags in Year 1 have been having fun flying the Jolly Roger this week with our fantastic new topic Pirates and the Seaside. What fun we had on Monday creating our own pirate maps and searching for the treasure. If we were to be proper pirates, we also needed a pirate passport which we made on Tuesday. We had great fun dressing up for the passport photos! In Maths we had a go at programming a Bee Bot. It had to go from the start all the way to the treasure which was tricky as we had to try and visualise each move and turn and which buttons we needed to press. In Phonics we have been learning a new trigraph ‘air’! Sadly, we couldn’t think of any pirate words that contained ‘air’ but we did think of fair, hair and pair. We finished the week having a look into the past and comparing the seaside of the Victorian age to the present day. We couldn’t believe that people didn’t wear shorts and t-shirts to the beach! They must have been really hot… The children have all done really well this week and we’re all really excited about our trip next week!

Have a fantastic weekend Year 1!
