Year 4: A great first week back/Next week

We have had a wonderful first week together in Blwyddyn 4 and all pupils have worked extremely hard, we are very proud of them.

Next week we will be recapping instructional writing and writing predictions about a story, we will also be having a go at using exciting sentences in our descriptive writing. In numeracy we will be working on adding and subtracting to multiples of 100. We will start our humanities work with a focus on India and we will be learning all about materials and their properties in science.

For the next four weeks we will be completing missions in the classroom on a Thursday afternoon.  Once we have mastered this first set of missions Mrs Williams and Mrs Burgess will be setting us missions to complete independently in the VIP room.

PE will be on Monday (outdoor) and Wednesday (indoor). For indoor PE pupils are welcome to bring in a pair of pumps to change in to. Alternatively it can be done bare foot.

Next week is Bible story week. We will be listening to,’ The story of the wise and foolish builder.’ We will also sing a song with actions, and do some building of our own. We will think about the message of the story, and how Jesus is “our rock.”

Reading books are coming home today. Some pupils may find that their books are a little longer than they are used to. It is perfectly fine to keep reading books for more than one week, please just send in the reading diary on a Thursday so that we can keep track of how the pupils are getting on. The book can be kept at home until it is finished.

A homework sheet is also coming home today, this is a maths activity liked to the work that we have been doing in school this week. Please make sure that all reading books and homework is returned on Thursday to allow us time to change the books.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine.
