Year 1: Weekly round up

What a fantastic finish to the week! I have to say that both Year 1 and Year 2 were absolutely brilliant in both our Christmas concert performances. Well done to you all! You make us all here at St Mary’s extremely proud with how hard you’ve all worked. It has clearly paid off and it is wonderful to see what confident individuals you are all becoming. Da iawn pawb!
As well as our fab concerts, this week we have been busy putting the finishing touches to our spinning Christmas tree decorations and calendars. These look really festive; I am sure you will be impressed with how hard Year 1 have worked on these. Today we have also been making some Christmas houses using biscuits and icing. These have come home with children today.
We have also been doing some work based around the nativity. We had to identify and label the various characters from the nativity scene which the children are now very familiar with. Many of us cut out and stuck on the various labels however, some of us were confident enough to write each label rather than cut and stick each one.
Tinsel the elf has been up to some mischief today… We found that he had filled up our marble jar to the brim! This can only mean one thing. We’re going to have a Christmas party! So next week will run as follows:
Monday we will be visiting church for our Christmas Carol service. Children will need to be dressed in school uniform. Tuesday is our Christmas dinner day, so children are welcome to come in party clothes for their special dinner. Then on Wednesday children are welcome to come to school in their own Christmas clothes for some Christmas fun and the party.
Until then, have a lovely weekend Year 1!
