Year 1: Weekly round up

The end of another busy week here in Year 1. This week we have been busy finishing off our comparison of Drip and Tyrannosaurs from our book Tyrannosaurus Drip. The children have also been working really hard in Maths. We have been creating a bar chart to show which is our favourite class dinosaurs. To start with, we had to gather the data in a tally chart. We then logged on to Hwb and created a bar chart to show the results. The children did really well with this tricky task, da iawn! This week we have also been making a special card which will hopefully be making an appearance on Sunday morning (maybe with breakfast…. fingers crossed!). In phonics we have been learning about the ‘ow’ sound and thought of lots of words such as cow, town and owl. We had fun learning how to play Botcha earlier in the week which we had another go at during our PE session. On Thursday we had a special treat during our forest school session. We had some of our school librarians from Year 4 come and read the children a story. Both groups picked a dinosaur book from our book nook to read. The Year 4 children read beautifully, and Year 1 really enjoyed listening to the stories. Da iawn pawb!

Next week we will be having a go at Kimball for our taster session with Liam. This game is a bit more physical than the previous two tasters, so please can children wear P.E kit on Tuesday next week. This taster session will replace our normal Wednesday PE slot, so please can children wear normal summer school clothing (summer dresses / short sleeve school top and shorts) on Wednesday. Please can I also ask that children remember to bring a water bottle with them to school, especially during this hot weather. We will refill these as often as required with cold water. Diolch.

Have a lovely weekend Year 1.
