Autumn has arrived this week in Reception.
We enjoyed going on lovely Autumn walk to start our topic off. We saw lots of colourful things and made our own story maps, drawing and writing about the interesting things we saw. #healthy, confident individuals
We have learnt 2 new sounds in phonics so now we know s, a, t, p, i, n. Next week we will be playing lots of fun games to help us remember these sounds including bingo and the mystery bag game. We will be writing them in different ways using shaving foam and lentils!
In maths, we used the colourful autumn leaves to count and make our own trees, matching numerals to the right amount. We used our conkers for a fun game of rolling and counting how many we could land in our bucket. #ambitious, capable learners
Thank you for bringing your Autumn Treasures to share with us from home. Our Autumn table has been a favourite spot for us to explore this week and we have loved looking at the leaves, conkers, pine cones, corn and other natural things. #ethical, informed citizens.
Next week, we will be learning about animals in the Autumn by reading the story ‘It was a cold, dark night’. We will learn the names for some animals in Welsh and make some crafts and do some Autumn baking using the animals as a stimulus.
In maths we will be learning about patterns we see around us. We will make patterns with leaves and Autumn things.
Welly Wednesday will take place as normal and PE continues on a Thursday.
We can’t wait for more fun next week, Autumn really is our favourite time of year!
