Year 6: World Book Day 2022

We have had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day today. We created a class book, with each pupil writing about a book that “means the World” to them. We also solved mathematical problems to figure out ‘The mystery of the winning World Book Day costume.’

After break time, we returned to class to find it had been transformed into ‘Cafe Blwyddyn 6.’ The tables were set, there was background music to set the ambience and each pupil had a menu. This was for our “book tasting” activity. Each pupil had 4 courses: A starter, main course, side dish and dessert. For each course, they had to read 3 pages of a book, chosen themselves from “the buffet.” Mrs Burgess, Mrs Bateman and Mr Kuiper were the waiters and pupils the customers. Once everyone had finished their 4-course “meals,” pupils became critics, making recommendations of good-reads to the rest of the class.

This afternoon, we have begun to create a class non-fiction book, with the title ‘Cymru,’ linked to our new topic.
