Year 6: The week ahead

Most of the Year 6 pupils have now had time in their new secondary schools. It has been lovely to hear all about what they have been up to and to hear how worries that they had about the transition have been eased. We look forward to hearing more from pupils that have yet to visit their secondary schools next week.
The pupils still at school this week have worked so well. They have been busy sewing cuddly toys and finding out about Dame Vera Lynn, as well as listening to some of her music. They also enjoyed a challenge of making a shelter to withstand weight, water and wind – all the shelters were brilliantly designed and all managed to remain intact! #EnterprisingCreativeContributors   #AmbitiousCapableLearners.
Next week, we will spend some more time rehearsing for our Leaver’s service, which is to be held on Thursday, 14th July. Pupils’ homework is on Google Classroom and is linked to this service.
We will also be finding out about what our local area was like during World War 2.

We will complete our class reader next week and write a book review too. We have really enjoyed sharing the story together and it has helped us to consider the plight of not only evacuees during World War 2, but also the plight of refugees. #EthicalInformedCitizens.
We will learn about sound and investigate how sounds are made, looking at factors that affect pitch and suitable materials for soundproofing.

We will have a PE session on Tuesday, so please remember to wear kits to school on this day.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
