Year 6: The week ahead

We have had a great start to our final term at St Mary’s. Pupils have worked hard in Maths, calculating square numbers and solving mathematical problems and puzzles. We finished our class reader this week. The pupils have really enjoyed the story of ‘The Snow Spider’ and have written some wonderful epilogues this week, imagining what might happen one year after the end of the story. We enjoyed listening to the story of King David for Bible story week and recreating the story using stop motion animation. Pupils also created some very eye-catching and informative leaflets about the national parks of Wales.

Next week, we will complete our topic of ‘Cymru’ and launch our next topic. On Tuesday, pupils will need to come to school dressed in PE kit please. We will be completing our Marathon Challenge! The pupils have persevered so well and it will be a real accomplishment to finally complete it. Don’t forget your water bottles!

We will write a book review for our class reader next week too, as well as revising Maths concepts covered last term.
Homework is on Google Classroom this week. There are two Maths quizzes – these will also help to revise concepts covered. Reading books that had been returned were sent home yesterday. Please note, these no longer need to be brought in to school as soon as a Monday. Pupils can now hold on to them until Thursdays, should they need to.
Marble jar reward – we have not forgotten! We are planning to hold our class disco on Friday, May 13th. More details to follow!
Have a lovely weekend!
