Year 6: Next week

We have had another great week, preparing for our Christmas concert, making Christingles and doing lots more learning!
Next week, we will continue to calculate the area of different shapes, before moving on to using different strategies to divide. #AmbitiousCapableLearners.
We have begun to look at the poetry of Ted Hughes this week and will look at more next week, using this as inspiration for writing our own poems. We will also create music, inspired by ‘Carnival of the animals’ by Saint Saens. #EnterprisingCreativeContributors.
This week, we have been learning about how animals adapt to their environments. We listened to a very catchy rap (pupils enjoyed this so much, that I have added a link to our Google Classroom). This week’s homework is to choose an animal, insert a picture and explain how the animal is adapted to its environment. This is on Google Classroom but can be done on paper. We will also create our own adaptation raps in class next week!
Thank you for your support in helping with costumes for our concert – this is much appreciated. Filming will take place on Thursday next week.
Please can pupils remember reading records (and cards should they wish to bring any in) on Monday. Also, PE kits on Tuesday – we hope that the weather will be better next week!
