Year 6: End of term – Easter is here!

A huge well done to all pupils of Blwyddyn 6 for their hard work this term. We have had a busy and enjoyable week this week. We have been busy with writing expositions showing the advantages and disadvantages of tourism at Snowdon. #EthicalInformedCitizens. We heard a story from ‘The Mabinogion’ and recreated it as a graphic novel.

We have also been busy with Easter craft, making cards and using our design, measuring, cutting and problem solving skills to create an Easter-themed moving toy. We showed perseverance and are really happy with our finished products. #EnterprisingCreativeContributors.
Of course, Easter wouldn’t be Easter without an egg hunt!

We enjoyed a game of water polo during our last swimming session today. The pupils have made so much progress with their swimming and water confidence. The staff at Chirk have commented on their excellent behaviour and participation and they have represented St Mary’s so well – ardderchog! It is not surprising that we have now FILLED OUR MARBLE JAR! We will be enjoying our reward, chosen by pupils, after the Easter break.

After Easter, we will be completing our topic of ‘Cymru.’ We will aim to answer our big question, explaining what we can do to help with the Welsh Government’s vision for 2050. When we return to school, it will be Bible Story Week. We will focus on the story of King David and use animations to retell the story. In Maths, we will look at square numbers as well as doing more problem-solving activities.
PE will move back to Tuesday, as it was before swimming. Please can pupils therefore come to school dressed in appropriate outdoor kit on Tuesdays.
Wishing you all a very happy Easter – Pasg Hapus! Let’s look forward to really enjoying your final term with us here at St Mary’s.
