Year 6: Another lovely week/The week ahead

We have had a busy, but lovely week in Blwyddyn 6. The pupils enjoyed performing their adaptation raps and we were very impressed with their confidence.

The pupils have worked so hard in Maths on comparing fractions, converting improper fractions into mixed numbers and have even moved on to calculating area, perimeter and volume. Homework this week is a sheet where they need to find the area of triangles. This is due in next Friday please.

We have had some challenge time on our ‘Cwpan y Byd’ challenges. We will continue with these for one more week. Next week, the pupils will generate ideas for our Christmas-themed challenges.

Next week is concert week! We will be watching dress rehearsals of other classes and having our own dress rehearsal on Monday. Our concerts are on Tuesday at 1:30 and again at 6:30pm. The pupils have worked so hard rehearsing and learning their lines. A huge thank you to parents and carers for providing costumes too – this is much appreciated.

In Themau, we will be performing the music we have composed this week, inspired by ‘The Carnival of the Animals,’ by Saint Saens. We will also be publishing our stories inspired by ‘The Talking Skull,’ a story from West Africa. We hope to read more stories from around the world over the next two weeks.
Some other exciting tasks next week include starting our Christmas craft and preparing for our Christmas Church Service, which will take place on Monday, 19th December ( please see information sent out today in the ‘Countdown to Christmas.’
Have a lovely weekend!
