Year 3: Home learning update 20/5

Bore da Bl. 3! Sut wyt ti heddiw? The weather forecast is looking good for today! We hope you get the chance to enjoy some sunshine.
Here are some activities for the rest of the week.
Maths – Subtracting by counting up. There is a video on google classroom which should help to explain this method. You can also upload a photo of your work in the same place. If you can’t access google classroom, hopefully the example in the photo will help. Please work through the questions in the photo on paper. It will help if you draw the number lines, as in the example. If you find questions 1-10 tricky, have a go at the 5 questions at the bottom of the photo. These are 2 digit numbers so might be easier.  Image.jpeg

Literacy/Africa topic – If using google classroom, there is a video of a reading of chapter 2 from ‘The Butterfly Lion.’ There is also an activity to go with it.
If you are unable to access google classroom, please complete the tasks in the photo below, on paper. Chapter 2 is where the boy has run away from boarding school and meets a stranger.

CALLING ALL FUTURE GAME DESIGNERS!   Purple Mash are running a competition called ”Games Design Competition.” It is an opportunity for you as an individual, or for you and your family, to be creative and design a brand new game using 2DIY 3D on purple mash.
The competition is running until the end of June and there are some good prizes up for grabs! We have used this programme before in class, but the programme itself has a PDF (shown in second picture below) with some useful information and hints to help you. There is a choice of themes on which to design your game – one of them is ‘Twisted Fairy Tale’ which links so well to our last topic! The photos below might help you to get started.  Image.jpeg
I have set 2DIY 3D as a to do so, even if you don’t want to enter the competition, you can still have a go. Be sure to save them and hand them in once done – we’d love to have a go of them!
Cymraeg – It was lovely to see our google classroom stream filled with welsh on Monday! I wonder if you could have a go at having a conversation with someone in your family in welsh? Here are some of the phrases from our language mats that we use. These have also been assigned in classwork on google classroom so that you can have a go at typing the answers.
