Today we combined Science with some P.E!!
We all started by doing a simple matching activity and we also tracked our heart rate. The class were then split into two randomly chosen groups: the active group and the inactive group. The active group learned the times tables through physical activity (supermovers!) and the other group learned them whilst sitting down and writing them out.
Only some of the pupils improved their score on the activity in the inactive group whilst almost all of the pupils in the active group improved their school. The heart rate also increased more so for the active group.
We learned that physical exercise helps you to learn better than when just sitting down to learn. This is because the blood pumps blood to your brain which helps you to be more alert and to concentrate more.
