This week in maths pupils will be solving word problems!
Today they were introduced to the skill through a fun, practical lesson.
Today pupils explored the hall, looking for different word problems. When somebody found one they would come back and hold it up. Pupils would read it and use their magnifying glass to pick out key words/ information which they could use to help figure out if it was an addition, subtract, times or divide.
Once they have done this they all had to solve the problem. Dojos were awarded for finding different/ creative ways of solving the problems and for checking their answer using alternative methods (e.g. one using a written method, another mentally).
