Today has been a fun packed day in Year 1! We have been busy celebrating World Book Day and all the children looked absolutely fantastic dressed up as their favourite characters. Thank you all for going to so much effort! We have read and looked through lots of books including Juniper Jupiter, Superworm and Supertato. We even had a go at writing a book review and drew our favourite page.
Also this week we learnt about the ‘sh’ sound in Phonics and had a look at which words we can find it in. We’ve also been learning about money in Maths. We had a go at identifying different coins and also tried to order them from smallest amount to the largest. We also celebrated St David’s Day and performed a dance in our school Eisteddfod. As well as the dance we created some beautiful daffodils for our schools St David’s Day competition. Also earlier this week we launched our brand new topic Superhero’s! The children really enjoyed searching for our class dragon and thinking about which super powers would be best to help him.
Next week we will be adding the ‘th’ sound to our Phonics lessons and looking at counting in 5’s and 10’s in Maths. We will also be planning, designing and making a Superhero mask during our topic lessons. Thursday will be Tree Top Thursday as normal and Wednesday will be PE. Please remember to send in book bags so that books can be changed ready to come home next Thursday.
Have a lovely weekend Year 1!
