What a busy end to a busy week here in Year 1! We have been working hard on all things Easter this week. We started the week hearing about the Easter story and making a lovely Easter plate using our hands as the rising sun. Diolch to Mrs Paxton who took us for that lesson.
We also made some scrummy Easter nests with some chocolate eggs in! That was extra fun mixing the chocolate in with our Shredded Wheat so it really did look like twigs in a nest. We also needed a way of carrying them home, so we made an Easter basket to hold our nests in which we also decorated.
In Phonics we have been learning about the ‘ee’ digraph and in Maths we have been adding 3p, 4p and 5p to different prices. We had fun saving Superworm from his icy trap and found out Salt was the quickest material to use to free him. We also had lots of muddy fun at Tree Top Thursday and enjoyed having our egg hunt.
We of course finished the week in style with an extra fun Pyjama party as our marble jar treat. We had dancing games such as ‘musical statues’ and ‘show us your moves’. We also had a game of the classic ‘Heads down, thumbs up’ which has quickly become a class favourite. We held the raffle for the Easter Egg prize which was won by Otis. Well done to Otis. We also had three winners from our ‘Design an Egg’ competition which I hear was a very difficult to pick some winners from! However, those winners were Ted, Bethan and Ariana. Well done to them for their excellent eggs!
Have a lovely Easter break Year 1, you continue to make us all very proud with your hard work and efforts. Try not to eat to much chocolate although that might be difficult! See you all in two weeks when we will start our new Topic…….. Fairy tales – Jack and the Bean Stalk!
