Year 1: Weekly round up

This week in Year 1 we have had another exciting week! We have continued practicing for our Christmas concert and we’re getting especially good at the songs. We have also started practicing our lines and working out who needs to stand where. In Maths, we have been working on our addition and subtraction to 10 and learning the symbols for these. We have also been learning about rhyming words and how they sound the same at the end. Our favourite rhyme was ‘strong’ and long’ which describe Superworm. We had lots of fun making a Superworm chant with Mrs McCaffrey and trying to think of some of our own rhyming words. In Phonics we have been learning about the ‘oa’ sound and playing a board game or bingo. At Tree Top Thursday we planted some Daffodil bulbs that we’re hoping to see grow ing the spring. Of course, today was Pudsey Day and it was lovely to see everyone dressed in yellow! We made some spotty Pudsey cakes which the children have brought home.

Reminder

Next week we will be making the sock puppets. So if you’ve yet to bring a sock in to school please can one come in before Tuesday. Diolch.

Have a lovely weekend Year 1! See you all next week.
