Year 1: Homework and Next Term

This week has busy a particularly busy week for Year 1. We became authors and wrote our own Autumn Stories. We had to plan characters, a setting, a beginning, middle and an end before we could start writing it properly and they turned out brilliantly!
We have continued our work on 2d shapes and have introduce symmetry. We had some lovely examples of symmetry created in the areas during plan, do  and review.
This weeks homework for over half term is a reading book and to access the symmetry game on topmarks. (The children have really enjoyed playing it in class too!) Also we are still trying hard to learn our phonic sounds and tricky words. We are using the tricky words I, to, the, no, go, he, she, we, me, be, into, was, you and they. It is about being able to spell/write them as well as reading them.
When we return our topic is Glitter and Glow where we will be looking at the story of The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark along with Bonfire night and Remembrance Day.
Have a lovely half term
