Year 1: Coronation Celebrations

The end of another busy week here in Year 1! This week we have been making lots of Coronation craft! We made some Union flags using our fingerprints. We also made a collage of Kings Charles’ head which all look very colourful. Apologies, the collages will come home on Tuesday next week. In Phonics we have been learning about the digraph ‘oo’. We discovered that it has both a short and long sound! Sometimes it makes the long sound in words such as moon and sometimes it’s the short sound as in book. In Maths we have started work on adding single digit numbers to two digit numbers which we will continue with that next week. We had a treat on Wednesday when we tried out some Hula which was really fun! Today we finished off the week with a Coronation celebration. We enjoyed having a special Coronation cake and juice as well as a special fish and chips lunch at lunchtime.

We have also been super busy preparing for our class assembly next week! The children are doing really well and I am so proud of how well they are doing. For our class assembly, please can children come dressed in red, white and blue as our assembly is Coronation themed. Diolch.

Have a wonderful weekend Year 1
