History of St. Mary’s Church in Wales Voluntary Aided School
The original school, known as the National School, was opened in 1848 at a cost of £1,600. In 1854 an infants school was added and the school was further enlarged on two occasions. The present St Mary’s School was built on the girls playground in 1976 and the old school demolished.
Since its opening the school has undergone extensive internal alterations and refurbishment. At present the Governors are seeking to build an extension to the school.
The school is able to accommodate 210 pupils along with nursery provision of 30. The school roll stands at 184 plus 29 Nursery.
